Former Calgary Flames Goalie Announces Retirement

Kiprusoff will be honored with his number retired alongside Lanny McDonald, Al MacInnis, and Jarome Iginla.

Miikka Kiprusoff, the former Calgary Flames goalie, has announced his retirement from hockey after 10 seasons with the team.

Kiprusoff, who was nicknamed "Kipper," entered the rink through the Zamboni entrance for his retirement ceremony and passed the crease he guarded for nine seasons. He will be the fourth Flames player honored with his number retired, joining forwards Lanny McDonald, Al MacInnis, and Jarome Iginla.

Kiprusoff took the summer to make sure he was 100% ready to retire. He said he is looking forward to spending more time with his family and friends.
