# Duplantis and Denny break records as first 2024 champions crowned ## Two new records were set on the opening day of the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, as Armand Duplantis and Grant Holloway broke their own world records in the men's pole vault and 60m hurdles respectively. ### Duplantis cleared 6.22m to improve his own world record by 1cm, while Holloway ran 7.29 seconds to take 0.01 seconds off his previous best. ### Denny reigned supreme, setting a new personal record of 3:54.32 whilst emerging victorious in the women's 1500m race. ### In the men's 60m, Christian Coleman took silver in 6.41 seconds, with Trayvon Bromell claiming bronze in 6.43 seconds. ### Femke Bol of the Netherlands won the women's 400m in a time of 49.26 seconds, ahead of Stephenie Ann McPherson of Jamaica, who took silver in 49.61 seconds, and Lieke Klaver of the Netherlands, who won bronze in 49.79 seconds. ### The championships will continue until Sunday 12 March, with a total of 26 gold medals up for grabs.
